Dating
John and I began dating. Not too long after we began dating, he went to Utah to attend school at BYU. I was heading out to Utah for school as well. I was going to be going to SUU in Cedar City. The two schools are only three hours apart, so we would commute on the weekends to see each other.

Getting Engaged
We knew we were in love and wanted to marry. One cold, but beautiful night, John proposed. We were going to BYU's homecomeing. Beforehand, we went to a Chinese restaurant to eat. We then went to Temple Square in Salt Lake City where we got on a carriage for a ride around the block. While on the ride, he gave me a fortune cookie, hade me read the fortune, which said, "Accept the next proposition you hear." The ring was inside the fortune cookie. John then got on one knee, said a poem, and asked me to marry him.
